James Andrew Bennett, 62, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2023, a week shy of his 63rd birthday. Born and raised in Hackettstown, NJ, he finished high school in Willimantic, CT where he was one of the first wrestlers on Windham High School’s budding powerhouse program under legendary coach Brian Crudden.
Jamie, as most people knew him, was an unforgettable character. His humor was outrageous aided by a sharp memory that pulled pop culture references and historical facts seemingly out of thin air. He was an avid mountain biker who enjoyed fishing, telling stories to his nephew, Jeff and niece, Vicky, rooting for the New York Giants and Yankees, and following high school and collegiate wrestling closely. Jamie loved animals, especially the dozens of cats he rescued and cared for over his lifetime, notably his most recent calico twins of 16 years, Spike and Sammy.
Jamie was predeceased by his father John and his mother Irene. His brother John and his sister-in-law Karen were with him most of his final quarter of life. He is also survived by his brother Paul and sister Gayle. A private celebration of his life will be held this summer.
