James C. Meyers, Sr.

February 26, 1949 - August 24, 2025

James "Jim" Meyers, Sr., 76, of Groton, CT, affectionately known as Ho Ho, passed away on August 24, 2025, after a prolonged period of declining health. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

Jim leaves behind a family as large and lively as he was. He is survived by his son, James Meyers Jr., and his daughter, Louise Churchill, and her husband, Rick. He was a proud grandfather to Kameron and Morgan Churchill, who could always make him smile and who inherited his stubborn streak and sharp wit. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Louise and Gerald Jaster, and biological father Alfred Meyers.

Jimmy's extended family was more like a small army, and he loved them all. His sister Pamela Regnere was his strongest advocate, and best friend. Sister, Linda Valentine (Butch) his loudest cheerleader. His sister, Sherry Sior and her husband Paul spent much time at his bedside, in his final weeks, and Jim loved and took comfort in their companionship. He also shared unique bonds with sisters Amy Neigel (Tommy), Debbie Noto (Chuck), Robin Slonski (Al), and his brother William Meyers (Dianne), and even though they were estranged, William was thought of by Jim often.

Jim loved all his extended family and was always happy to spend time with them. He was known to take up court from the chosen recliner at family gatherings and talk to everyone as they walked by.

Known for his grit, humor, and ability to find the best deal on anything, anyone ever needed or didn’t need. Jim was never one to give up or take life too seriously. He was a lifelong car enthusiast who never passed up a car show with his son and grandson. If it had shiny chrome or made too much noise, Jim loved it. He enjoyed puzzles and Lego building-proving that even grown men can get just as excited as kids when finding that one missing piece.

Above all, Jimmy loved his family. He adored them fiercely, teased them mercilessly, and showed them every day how to face life with resilience, humor, and heart. His jokes, his laugh, and his love will echo through his family forever.
