James “Jim” Joseph Keily, Sr., 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 27, 2021. He was born August 12, 1944, in Hartford, son of Late James J. Keily and Katherine McCann. Jim grew up in Manchester where he made lifelong friendships wherever he went. He lived in Manchester and Tolland, later residing in Coventry. Jim worked as an Auto Technician for most his career. He worked 21 years for Burnside Motors, East Hartford and most recently Motorcar West of Manchester as a Transport Manager.
Jim lived life to the fullest. He was a Mopar Enthusiast. He enjoyed working on cars, attending car shows, racing, boating and working in his yard. Jim enjoyed puttering around his garage until late into the evenings. Jim always had a smile, joke, story or a beer for anyone who dared step into his garage. He was happiest spending time with his family and friends and just being together. Jim had a very big heart. Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Jim was loved by many and will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all.
Jim is predeceased by his wife Marilyn (Plummer) Keily. His brother William Kiely and sisters; Catherine Hollister and Nancy Gally.
His greatest love beyond anything was for his family. James is survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Judith Keily; his children, James Keily and his wife Gillian of Coventry, Kimberly Allen and her husband Bruce of Tolland, Shaun Keily and his fiancé Kim Cyr of Coventry; sisters, Delores Plis of North Port, FL., Jane Simmons and her husband Tom of Livonia, MI., Patty Barcomb of Manchester; his brother John Keily and wife Liz of San Diego, CA and brother in-law George Gally of Manchester. Jim also leaves behind his companion Carol Soucy and many very special nieces and nephews.
Always a devoted grandfather, Jim held a special place in his heart for each of his grandchildren. He is the beloved “Papa” to his grandchildren whom he adored, Wade and Taylor Allen both of Tolland.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date this summer.
