James Justice of Hamden, Connecticut passed away on April 20th, 2026 after a long struggle with dementia. James was born in Eastern Massachusetts and spent nearly all of his life there, except for a brief stint as a schoolteacher in New Hampshire and four years in the Navy. After his service he made a career in law enforcement adjacent work, as a corrections officer, systems analyst, and (in the private sector) as a programmer for Lojack Corporation. In that later work he held three patents. James was a friendly, kind, and quiet man who loved his family, theater, soccer, photography, and travel. He was also an active community member, helping found a youth soccer league, a community theater group, and the Massachusetts Correctional Association, which subsequently named a service award after him. He is survived by three generations of family.Â
