Jane Frankland Jones passed peacefully at home Monday, March 29, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by her loving family. She left this world on her terms and in her own way and, in her final moments, hung on as long she could to ensure everyone had a chance to say goodbye. Upon exhaling her last breath, a tremendous wind outside carried her spirit forth through an open window by her bedside.
Jane grew up in Windsor Locks, Conn., the daughter of Irene Bouchard and John Frankland. She graduated Windsor Locks High School in 1969 and went on to Bay Path University to pursue a career in executive secretarial studies. She began her working life as an executive secretary at Travelers Insurance until the birth of her first daughter, Rebecca, then stayed home through the birth of her second daughter, Elizabeth. She later returned to work with the Enfield Public School system, where she remained until retirement. Her favorite years were those spent working at Enfield High School, where she got to know many of the students and staff and was beloved by all.
She was an avid reader, loved beaches (Rhode Island’s Watch Hill, in particular), long conversations, dinners and get-togethers, day trips and weekend getaways throughout New England (and the Northeast in general), shopping with her daughters, live music, pottery and sea glass. But most of all, Jane loved being in the company of family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. Her greatest pride was her family and she was a tireless supporter and defender of it, though through it all she was still a kind, gentle soul that left a lasting impression on everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She was a hard worker and relished in helping anyone she could, always wanting everyone to be happy. She loved to laugh and her own laugh was one that would make others join in without knowing the reason.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Roger Jones of Enfield, Conn., her son Benjamin Beaudry and his wife Laura of Vernon, Conn., along with their children, Samantha and William; daughter Rebecca Jones and her partner, Ricarte Burgos of Springfield, Mass., his daughter Gabriella, and their children Ricarte and Emani; her daughter Elizabeth Jones and her fiancé, Ryan Breaux, of Enfield, Conn., and their child on the way; stepson Robert Jones and his wife, Bridget of Somers, Conn., and their children Madeline, Nora, Sophie, Liam, Emelia and Finn; stepson Jeffrey Jones and his wife, Jessica, of West Palm, Fla., and their son Henry; her brother Bruce Frankland and his wife, Margaret, of Buda, Texas, and their children Matthew Frankland and his wife, Angela, of Austin, Texas, and Ellen Frankland of Manchaca, Texas, along with many extended family and friends who all loved her dearly.
Jane’s family would also like to acknowledge two of her closest friends, Janet Harris and Ann Law, for their care, compassion, support and regular visits throughout her illness.
