Janice "Baby Sister" Areatha Jarrett passed away at Vernon Manor in Vernon, CT on Tuesday, February 21, 2022.
Janice was born in Bainbridge, Georgia and relocated to Clewiston, Florida at a young age, where she wed and had her firstborn daughter. Shortly after, the family moved to Hartford, Connecticut where she had her second daughter and only son. Hartford became her lifelong home. After years of being an at home mom, Janice made her career in the manufacturing industry as a Quality Control Inspector, ever proud of her knack for math and numbers. She retired from United Technologies in 2003. Janice was an excellent cook and enjoyed having family and friends over for holiday dinners and cookouts. Her sweet potato pies were to die for – a recipe that has been perfected and cherished by her eldest daughter, Joycelyn.
Janice leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Joycelyn Jarrett-Hayes (Ryan) and Wanda Jarrett; one son, Daniel Jarrett; five granddaughters, Dionne, Ashleigh, Danyahl, Andria, and Arianna; three grandsons, Sean (Alexandra), Brandon, and Ryan Jr.; and five great-granddaughters, Amrynn, Aaryn, Malaya, Sienna, and Savannah.
Janice is preceded in death by her mother Florrie Mae Medley, grandmother Willie Pearl Griffin, grandfather Horace "Willie" Griffin, and brother William "Sonny" Medley.
