Jean Wilkinson

Jean Wilkinson, 83, of Waterbury, Connecticut, born to Harold Curtiss Sr and Edith Curtiss, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, in her hometown. Born on October 19, 1942, in Waterbury, she spent her entire life in the city she loved.


Jean was a woman of many passions and talents. She found joy in shopping, reading, crocheting intricate designs, and piecing together puzzles that reflected her sharp mind and patience. Her vibrant personality shone through her love for life and her outspoken nature. Jean was well-known for her signature sayings: when asked how she was doing, she would reply with a simple "Don't ask," and she often reassured those around her with the phrase "I ain't going anywhere no time soon." These expressions became part of her legacy, bringing smiles to those who knew her.


Jean's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her children Deborah Richards (William), Leona Wilkinson, and June Wilkinson; John Wilkinson (Luann) and Richard Wilkinson; as well as an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind her siblings, Harry Curtiss, Edith Emmons, and Dorothy Bradshaw, along with their spouses. Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Wilkinson; her daughter, Agnes Wilkinson; her brother, Harold Curtiss; her sister, June Curtiss; her granddaughter, Erica; and her grandson, Deon.


Jean’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her wit, warmth, and zest for life will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.


May Jean's legacy bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. A Memorial Mass will be held on June 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St, Waterbury, CT
