Jeannene Marie Whitcomb September 12, 1958- April 23,2020
Jeannene passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020 in her home in Tolland after a battle with ALS; she was 61 years of age. She was with her husband of thirty years, Dan, and her two children, Danielle and Shawn, who she was so proud of.
Jeannene was born in 1958 in Garden City, Michigan to parents Ken and Thelma Barrett. She was the third youngest of four siblings, Billy, Ruth, and Dale Barrett. After moving to Connecticut in 1985, she worked for United Technologies, Cigna, Hanes Corp., and most recently, Purple Heart Home Care as a personal care aid. Jeannene, a devoted Christian, met her husband and companion through life at church. She was a compassionate and creative individual who loved to bake, crochet, sew, and sing.
She is predeceased by her parents and older brother Billy, who also had ALS. She is survived by her husband Dan, daughter Danielle, an environmental earth science major at Eastern Connecticut State University, and son Shawn, a full-time employee at Arrow Diversified Tooling in Ellington, CT. She is also survived by younger brother Dale Barrett, older sister, Ruth Barrett and many nieces and nephews.
The family plans to have a memorial service in her honor at a later date to be determined.
