Jeannette Rita Deshaies Shafer

February 16,1942 - August 24,2026

Jeannette Rita Deshaies Shafer, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt,and friend, peacefully departed this world on August 24,2026, with her devoted daughter by her side at HavenCare at Litchfield Woods in Torrington ,Ct.   Born on February 16,1942, in Manchester, New Hampshire, Jeannette was the cherished daughter of Yvette Rita (Allard) Deshaies and Joseph Roger Deshaies. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Ronald Deshaies, brother-in-law Ronald Groleau and her husband of 36 years, Herbert Shafer.

Jeannette leaves behind a loving family who were the pride and joy of her life. Her memory will be treasured by her children, Lorraine Carlson and husband Charles, her son Eugene St.Germain and wife Barbara, her sister Irene Groleau and brother Jean Deshaies and wife Jennifer and sister-in-law Patricia Deshaies of New Hampshire. She was a devoted grandmother to Randy St.Germain, Kevin St. Germain, Brock Carlson, Crystal St.Germain and Dale Schucht. Her love extended to six great grandchildren Slade St.Germain, Halo St.Germain, Angel St.Germain, Daryl Charbonneau Jr., Richard and Payton Nieves and 2 great,great grandchildren Braxton Price, and Dawson Clay. Her family further includes stepchildren Wendy, Roddy, Holly, and Brenda Shafer, as well as several nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss her presence.

With a career spanning over two decades at Hotchkiss Brothers, Jeannette later shared her talents with Stone Container and B E Aerospace, eventually retiring from Becton Dickinson. Her work was more than a job; it was a testament to her dedication and resilience.

Jeannette was a lifetime member of the Veneta Club Women's Auxiliary where she was known for her warmth and smile, charming wit and countless hours helping with events. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as bingo,shopping, attending local concerts with friends , and traveling. Above all, she cherished the time spent with family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to others.

Her life will be celebrated at a later time next spring in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or to her Daughter Lorraine Carlson 11  Baker St. Winsted, Ct 06098 . honoring Jeannette's generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Jeannette's legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
