Joann Gill (Rovinsky), 92, of West Hartford, Connecticut, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at UCONN John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington.
Joann joins her late husband, Frank Gill Sr.; her brothers Carl and Raymond, her sister Henrietta, her parents Martha and Stanley Rovinsky, and her son-in-law Joseph Monarca.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Joann grew up with a strong love for her family and anything involving the arts. She was an impressive seamstress for G. Fox & Co., which then became Filene’s. She was a woman with many skills and hobbies including sewing, drawing, oil painting, scrapbooking, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Joann took pride in sharing her love of crafting with her grandchildren. When they would come over, she would have mini pancakes cooking in the morning and a project ready. They would spend the day creating while she shared stories of her family and growing up during World War II.
Joann is survived by her son, Frank Gill Jr.; daughters, Lonelle Monarca, and Michelene Braithwaite and her husband, Dwayne Braithwaite; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
There will be a Mass to celebrate Joann’s life on Friday, August 11 at St. John's Polish National Catholic Church, Manchester, Connecticut.
