Joann M. Becce, 65, of Waterbury, sadly passed away on July 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joann was born on January 8, 1960, in Waterbury to the late Anthony and Lena (Romeo) Torretta. Joann spent her life as a dedicated wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She loved to bake and cook for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts, and reading a good book. Joann's family was the greatest love and joy of her life. She loved spending her time with her three grandchildren. Joann spent 25 years as a dedicated and loyal employee of the Town Plot IGA. During her time at IGA, she created many friendships and left a lasting impression on anyone she met. Joann enjoyed family gatherings and sitting around the dinner table having a good laugh.
Joann was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law Frank Fillie. Joann is survived by her loving and dedicated husband Nicholas J. Becce of 40 years, her son Joseph and Sage (Kelley) Becce of Cheshire, her daughter Maria Becce, and her three grandsons Dyllan, Sebastian, and Anthony. Joann leaves behind her two siblings, Francis (Thomas) Lockwood and Vincent (Dorothy) Torretta, her sisters-in-law Cynthia Becce and Joann Fillie, along with many nieces and nephews, Adam, Stephanie, Jessica, Frank, Michael, Daniel, and all of her great-nieces and nephews, Jayce, Joelle, Arianna, Evelyn, Landon, Jackson, and Parker.
The family would like to thank the Vitas Hospice team at Saint Mary's who provided not only amazing compassionate care but also emotional and spiritual support for Joann and her immediate family.
In true Joann fashion, we will be holding a celebration of life gathering where we invite all family and friends of Joann's to attend.
