Joanna McElroy

Joanna D. McElroy, 90, of East Hampton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. Joanna was born March 25, 1935 in Bridgeport, CT the daughter of Albert and Irene Eisenman.

Joanna graduated from Southern Connecticut State Teachers College and was a kindergarten teacher at MacDonough Elementary School in Middletown.

Joanna leaves behind her daughter, Kate Thibodeau (Reggie) of Middlefield, husband David McElroy, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Neal Carlson, daughters Theresa, and Chris Anne.

Joanna loved to travel, including Europe, China, Japan, South and Central America. She also traveled full-time in an RV across the United States and Canada. Volunteered at State parks in Louisiana and the Big Bend Region of Texas.

Joanna was a lover of her Black Lab Retrievers Spot, Tyler and most recent Niko that she leaves behind.

Per Joanna’s wishes there will be no ceremony and calling hours. Please, no flowers or donations. Her only wish is that friends and family remember her.
