John Christopher Granatelli, 61, of Cheshire, passed away January 6, 2023. For 26 wonderful years, he was the dearly loved husband and best friend of Brunella Granatelli.
John was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 23, 1961 to the late Joel and Loretta (Greco) Granatelli. John was the loving dad to Brianna (Nick) Conetta of Fairfield, CT, Andrew (Stephanie) Narcisco of Cheshire, CT and Joseph Granatelli of Cheshire, CT, and the world’s best Popi to Lea Conetta. John was the brother of Maria (Paul) Ferreras of St. Thomas, USVI, Barbara (Robert) Keshecki of Harrington, ME, and Anthony (Lucinda) Granatelli of Forked River, NJ. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.
John began his career at ProMed Systems Inc., and also spent many years running his own computer repair business. Most recently he was working at CONNSTEP doing cyber security and had just become a CMMC Registered Practitioner. He was also a Past President of the Cheshire Jaycees, and member of the Pontiac Club-Nutmeg Chapter.
John was full of laughter and endless jokes and facts. He loved classic cars, the Mets, Patriots and UConn, Star Trek, Jeopardy, Wordle and having pizza and a beer. He was generous, funny, kind to his core and was always learning. But above all John loved his family, and his greatest purpose in life was to be a dad and popi. You couldn’t have a conversation with him without looking at a few photos and hearing a story. The life and memories he made will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 12:00 PM, Thursday, January 12th at St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Road Cheshire, CT 06410. Donations can be made in his memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
I'm so sorry for the loss you are feeling now. I met John through work, he helped consult and guide us deeply through improving security practices at our company. John was a very nice, helpful, intelligent, knowledgeable, and funny guy. He was easily my favorite outside expert we worked with. ~Kevin Coleman
My condolences to the family. This was heartbreaking news when I learned of John's passing. Wishing that warm memories help bring you solace in this time of great loss. With sadness, Julie Ruth (friend and colleague of Tony.)
John was five years older than me. He frequently let his brother Anthony drive his Buick Riviera while we were in high school. The adventures we had.. In life you can’t choose your family but I know Anthony would choose John as an older brother over and over again. Prayers of healing to John’s family; rest in peace John.
I met John 25 years ago when Stacey and I moved into our house in Cheshire. I was working in the backyard and John stopped over to say hello and introduce himself. I was using some old tools and John offered me his cordless drill. When I was done with it I went to return it but he said "keep it, I have another." I could not believe our good luck at having such a generous neighbor! Over the years we have gotten to know him as a great neighbor and father as our son Jason become close friends with Joey and spent many nights at their house together. Our hearts go out to Brunella, Joey and his extended fa…
