John L. “Jack” Meehl, Jr., 71, of Middletown passed away on January 27, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital following a brief illness.
Born on December 22, 1951, Jack was a lifelong and proud resident of Middletown. He loved deer hunting, fishing at the Salmon River, upstate New York and Vermont, as well as his daily morning coffee with his cronies. Jack was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan, enjoyed riding his Harley, and loved gardening and spending time outdoors with family, friends and his many pets over the years.
Jack was a loving father to daughter, Jennifer, of London, England, and son, Jonathan, who predeceased him in 2018.
Jack was predeceased by his father, John L. Meehl, Sr., and leaves behind his extended family including mother, Delores, brother Bruce, sisters Ann Poissant and Carol DeLaurentis, aunt Marcia, and a host of nieces, nephews and beloved cousins. Jack is also survived by Florence Lyman and her loving family, as well as Johanne Meehl, and many others whose lives he touched with his humor, optimism and generosity of spirit.
A Catholic memorial mass and burial will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s name to the Connecticut Humane Society at www.cthumane.org
