John Kowal, of Wethersfield, husband of Josephine Kowal, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 in hospice.
He was born on March 17, 1925 in Krakow, Poland. As a teenager, during the World War II he was working as a laborer in a German work camp. After the liberation of Europe, he worked for US army. After receiving a driving license, he got a job as driver for a US Army Major General in Paris. This general helped John get to US and obtain US citizenship.
In US John settled in Connecticut. He worked as an aerospace precision welder for 50 years at United Tool & Die in West Hartford. John was married to Josephine for 47 years and was devoted husband and father.
John is survived by his wife, Josephine Kowal of Wethersfield, his two daughters, Janice Kowal of Wethersfield, and Ginger Gilbertson and her husband Thomas of Cromwell, his grandchildren Violet and Lily also of Cromwell.
There will be no calling hours at John’s insistence. Burial will be private
