Johnny Hollis 1956-2020

Johnny “Pank” Hollis, age 63, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2020 at the St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, Connecticut. He was born in Waverly Hall, Georgia on May 30, 1956, the son of the late Rush and Ella (Holmes) Hollis. Johnny devoted his life to the Lord at the Flat Rock Baptist Church, Waverly Hall, GA. He graduated from the Harris County Senior High School in Hamilton, GA in 1975.


Johnny moved to Hartford, CT and resided in the city for over thirty years. He was a Supervisor or Lead Cook for over forty years at various restaurants: Black Eyed Sally's, Ted's Montana Grill, Hartford Brewery, Goodwin Hotel, Chuck Cellar in Connecticut and the Hilton Hotel and Atlanta Hilton Hotel in Georgia. Johnny have been retired for several years.


Johnny was a devoted family man who gave of his heart as well as his time to his family and the community. He had a good sense of humor, very out spoken and loved by many people.


Johnny leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved daughter, Latasha Hollis of Columbus, GA; his two sisters, Mary Bussey of Warner Robins, GA and Betty Washington of Waverly Hall, GA; his four brothers: James Hollis (Anita) of Kathleen, GA; Donald Hollis of Savannah, GA; Kenneth Hollis of Warner Robins, GA; and Rush Hollis, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren; a host of nieces, and nephews; and many other loving relatives and friends. Johnny is pre-deceased by his seven brothers: Benjamin, Larry, Bruce, Henry, Arthur, Charles and Izeal Hollis.


A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Connecticut and Georgia. Johnny will be buried at the Flat Rock Baptist Church, Waverly Hall, GA. Gone to his glory, suffering no more, Johnny is at peace.
