Joseph "Joe" Patrick Reilly

Joseph "Joe" Patrick Reilly, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, at the age of 83 in Middletown, CT. Born on May 28, 1940, in New Haven, CT to Vincent and Catherine (Dilg) Reilly. Joe lived an active life filled with sports, family, friends, and his many hobbies.



Joe was a man of many interests. He had an unwavering love for boating, restoring antique farm tractors and Corvettes. He also had a deep passion for sports and was a former Commissioner and Ice Hockey Official for the National Ice Hockey Official Association (NIHOA) and a former official for the CT Football Official Association (CFOA), an organization his father Vincent Reilly helped found. Some of Joe's fondest memories were spent in the summers at Hamburg Cove with his wife and friends.



Joe was the former business owner of Trading Post Package Store in Higganum, CT for 25 years.



Joe's love for his family was immeasurable. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margy Reilly, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. He is also survived by his daughter Jennifer (JJ) Bolton and their children Kaitlin and Christian, his son Jonathan Reilly and his daughter Emma, his step-daughter Jennifer Santangelo and her daughters Peyton and Reese, his step-daughter Sherry Santangelo and her daughters Denise and Gianna, as well as his sister Ellen (Don) Biondi and their daughters Jillian and Janessa. Joe was preceded in death by his mother Catherine (Dilg) Reilly and his father Vincent J. Reilly.



A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring/Summer to honor Joe's memory. Details about the service will be announced at a later date.



In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate) in Joe's honor. St. Jude was a cause close to his heart, and any support would be greatly appreciated.



Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warm smile, infectious laugh, and zest for life will forever be cherished. May he rest in eternal peace.
