Joyce (Podziewski) O'Brien

Joyce (Podziewski) O'Brien, age 71, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of immense love, vibrant laughter, and cherished family memories.

She is now reunited with her beloved parents, John and Genevieve Podziewski, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Timothy; her loving son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Angela Podziewski; her dear stepdaughter, Kelley; her sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Donald Archer; and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Valerie Podziewski. She was also a proud, doting Babcia and great-grandmother to countless grandchildren, and a beloved Ciocia to many nieces and nephews, all of whom she absolutely adored.

Before her retirement, Joyce dedicated many years of service to Hartford HealthCare, where her hard work, dedication, and kindness touched many lives. Outside of work, she was a woman of vibrant passions. She had a deep love for the high-octane thrill of racing and the peacefulness of camping in the great outdoors. Above all, her absolute favorite titles were "Mom" and "Babcia"—nothing brought her more joy than completely spoiling her children and grandchildren. When she wasn't on an adventure or spending quality time with her family, you could easily find her relaxing at home, happily tuned into her favorite TV Channel 290.

Her warmth, generosity, and spunky spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Family and friends are invited to attend her cemetery service, which will be held at Saint Joseph Cemetery (815 Boswell Ave, Norwich, CT) on Saturday, September 26th at 10:30 AM.
