With heavy hearts and immeasurable love, we announce the passing of Kathy, a woman whose light was nothing short of extraordinary. Kathy was, in every way, a force—bright, bold, stubborn in the most loving way, and above all, deeply compassionate. She left this world far too soon, but not without leaving a lasting impact on everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

Kathy is survived by her son, Matthew, and her five siblings—Julie, James, Joe, Hen, and Ger—lovingly known as “the tribe.” Together, they shared a bond as wild, protective, and deeply rooted as family can be.

To know Kathy was to be truly seen. As her niece Cassidy wrote so beautifully, “There was not a single soul in this whole world that could possibly shine brighter than Kathy.” She had a rare gift for understanding people exactly as they were, embracing every flaw and every spark. Her love was fierce and unwavering; her presence, grounding and joyful.

She was the person you went to when you needed a laugh, a tough truth, or a soft place to land. She believed in people with a quiet power, and her support often came at just the right moment, without ever needing to be asked.

Kathy’s memory will live on in the little things: the way she lit up a room, the sound of her laughter, the calm in her voice, and the warmth of her embrace. We will find her in the cardinals that visit the window, the blooming purple flowers in spring, and the smell of summer mornings. In each of these moments, we’ll remember her love—a love that was unconditional, steady, and all-encompassing.

As Cassidy so poignantly wrote, “It is a blessing to be able to have loved someone so much, that I am able to feel this grief.” Kathy’s love will continue to echo in every life she touched, in every good deed done in her honor, and in every heart she helped heal.

She was one in a million, and she always will be.
