Kira Michelle (Hushion) McLoughlin, 42, of Derby, CT, died suddenly on Saturday, September 22 in her home. In her lifetime she has lived in New Canaan and Danbury, Connecticut, Florida and Juneau, Alaska.
Kira was born in Stamford, CT. She is survived by her husband Andrew Case McLoughlin and son Liam Thomas McLoughlin, her mother Kathy Hushion Davis and her father Thomas Quinn and her sister Alexandra Quinn. Her in-laws are Patrica and Paul McLoughlin, Brother-in-law Matthew McLoughlin and Sister- in-law Margaret Ann Wright (McLoughlin); as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dogs Hailey and DJ. Melissa Thornton of Florida was her dearest and closest friend and they referred to each other as sisters. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents Ann (Bacco) and Walter Hushion and step-father Alan R. Davis Sr.
Over the years she worked as an exotic animal trainer in SeaWorld, a Shore Excursion Manager on Carnival Cruise Line and most recently as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Kira was an adventurous carefree soul and developed many friendships all over the world. She loved animals and most all of their pets were rescues. Her family and friends were of the utmost importance to her.
Kira was passionate about crafts; she refinished all sorts of furniture for their home as well as
hangings for their walls and gifts for everyone. Kira suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for years as well as severe migraine headaches. In lieu of any funeral, there will be a Celebration of Life Remembrance this weekend for family & close friends.
