Southbury, CT — Klara Westlein passed away peacefully at Monarch in Southbury on Thursday February 26, 2026. She was 94 years old.
Klara was born on August 10, 1931, in Altdorf-Marlach, Germany, the daughter of the late Bonifaz and Ida Stahl. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert Westlein, and her brother, Franz Stahl.
In 1955, Klara immigrated to the United States, arriving through Ellis Island before settling in New York City, where she lived and worked. Albert joined her in the United States in 1957, and the two were married that same year. Together they built a life and family in New York, welcoming their sons, Edward in 1960 and Richard in 1962.
Klara was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in caring for her family. She was known as a wonderful cook and an exceptional baker, always bringing warmth and comfort to those around her. She worked for many years as a housekeeper before retiring with Albert to Greenport, New York, in 2000.
Following Albert’s passing, Klara moved to Monarch in Southbury in 2019.
Klara is survived by her two sons, Ed Westlein of New York City and Rich Westlein and his wife Jackie of Southbury, Connecticut; her cherished grandchildren, Michael and Victoria; and many beloved nieces and nephews in both the United States and Germany.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
