“Laurie” Susan Cuomo
09/21/1957 - 03/16/2021
"Laurie" (Laurene) Susan Cuomo, longtime resident of Clinton, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on 03/16/2021 with her family by her side following a short, fierce battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was born in New Haven, CT to and predeceased by her parents Edwin Milton Vedder and Judith Laurene Harris Vedder. She was also predeceased by the father of her children Thomas Joseph Cuomo, who she spent 13 years of marriage with, her son Justin Thomas Cuomo, her nephew Raymond Mansfield, and the “PUG (LOVE)” of her life Maggie.
Laurie spent the last 30+ years as a dedicated waitress at the Parthenon Diners in Branford and Old Saybrook. Prior to that, she enjoyed being a hairstylist and nail technician. Laurie looked forward to Spring and especially enjoyed the heat of Summer, when she was able to spend time outdoors gardening, or relaxing with her coffee, watching for the hummingbirds and butterflies to return. Laurie will always be remembered for her sharp wit and humorous attitude towards life, as well as her determination and strength she displayed throughout hers. She constantly put others' needs ahead of her own and was her sister’s constant cheerleader, warrior, and support as she battled her own health issues. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren who each hold a piece of her heart and will miss her beyond measure.
Laurie was a loving and devoted Mother of four daughters and Mimi to nine grandchildren that she adored. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved children and grandchildren, Stephanie Cuomo of Clinton (Antonio Felipe & Annie Bisogno), Jodie Robinson of Haddam (Jayden Robinson), Tracey Cuomo of Clinton (Aryana Galbraith & Jacob Getman), and Amanda Cuomo/Kevin Gagner of East Haven (Izabella, Averie, Nicholas, & Jaxon Gagner), her “sister & best friend” Donna Vedder Gendron/Jim of Westbrook, brothers Edwin Vedder/Wendy of Texas, Steven Vedder/Jessica of New York, stepmother Linda Cook of Texas, “sister” in law, Laura Cuomo Puccino of Florida, and “lifelong best friend” Diane Augur of East Haven, in addition to six nephews, four nieces, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her cherished pets Carly and Mitzy.
