Lawrence Tripoli 1954-2020

On Wednesday September 16, 2020 Lawrence “Larry” Tripoli, loving husband and father of four  passed away at the young age of 65 after a very brief illness . Larry was born November 8, 1954 in Stafford Springs CT to Joseph and Clover (Jones) Tripoli.  Larry graduated from E.O. Smith high school, in Storrs, CT in 1972, and went on to marry his high school sweetheart and love of his life Diana (Partridge) in 1974.  Larry was a machinist by trade, working in a few different machine shops- but left the trade to start his family owned cleaning business.   Larry was an active member of the English Willimantic Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses since his baptism in 1966 at the age of 12.  Larry loved his family, and loved his God Jehovah even more.  He tirelessly volunteered his time in caring for the members of the congregation, serving as an elder for the past 35 years.  In addition to his spiritual shepherding work, he volunteered on many Kingdom Hall building projects throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island as head of the cooking department.  Larry held onto the promises found with the Bible and actively shared those with everyone.   Larry loved being with his family and especially vacationing with them, his favorite places being Disney, the White Mountains and Hawaii.  He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved anything related to Star Trek.  Larry was an excellent cook, who often catered weddings and other gatherings for friends and family.  Larry was a  compassionate, patient, kind, generous, humble, loving man, husband and father, known for his quick wit and sense of humor, but making time for anyone who was in need.    He was known as a mentor to so many.   Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diana, his children, Karen, Sheila (Gonzalo) Ortiz, Christopher (Autumn), Mark ( Jennifer), his granddaughter Norah Tripoli and step grandchildren Joshua and Jacinda Ortiz, and Breanna and Darcy Canales.  Brother Philip (Ruth), sister Marilyn Scussell, Aunt Dora Mezzapello,  along with many nieces and nephews.  Larry is predeceased by his parents and brother Joseph Jr.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 10 @ 1pm via video conferencing on Zoom.  Anyone wishing to view the services may contact any member of the family or email smortiz78@gmail.com to request the meeting ID and password.  The family wishes to express a special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the ICU department at Hartford Hospital, Potters’s Oil Service and Denny Gates for the generous amount of support shown to the family during this difficult time.
