Leslie Spencer Andrew Jr. 1944-2022

Leslie Spencer Andrew Jr. (Butch) of West Hartford, CT died November 20,2022 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.


He was born January 17, 1944 in Hartford Connecticut, the son of Leslie Spencer Andrew Sr., and Ethel Louise Crosby.


Leslie graduated from Hall High School class of 1963. He also studied at A.I. Prince Technical School for two years. He then served four years with the US Navy in the Vietnam War. He was married to Janet Carlson Andrew for 55 years. Leslie was a loyal member and volunteer of the Boy Scouts of CT and CT Valley Girl Scouts. He was also a long time member of ARRL and the NARL and ICRC ham radio clubs. He was an avid camper who loved the outdoors, camping on Andrew Mountain, at Camp Timber Trails and at Water's Edge and spending his winters in Florida after retirement. He worked for the phone company retiring in 2006 from AT&T.


In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother, Edwin Andrew, sister-in-law, Barbara Andrew, brother-in-law, Gordon Stevenson, and niece, Nancy Andrew. Surviving, in addition to his wife, daughter, Barbara Andrew and her partner, Lisa Beauchamp of Coventry; son, Christopher Andrew of West Hartford; daughter, Kimberly Andrew Halstead of West Hartford; grandson, Nicholas Dyer of West Hartford; granddaughter Jeralyn Halstead of Vernon; grandson, Tolan Halstead of Manchester and granddaughter, Delanie Halstead of West Hartford. He also leaves his sister Bernice Stevenson of Largo, FL, his nephews Edwin Andrew, John Andrew, David Stevenson, Douglas Stevenson and Adam Stevenson as well as grand nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.


A gathering to remember Les will be scheduled in the spring for family and friends at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hartford, CT.


Those who wish to remember Les in a special way may make gifts or donations to the Veterans Administration or American Cancer Society.
