Lorraine Airo Wagner of Chester, CT, formerly of Middletown, CT, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Port St. Lucie, FL died at the age of 84 on December 14, 2020 succumbing to the effects of Covid-19.
She was born September 21, 1936 in Middletown, CT, daughter of the late Concettina Fazzino Airo and Carmelo Airo. She graduated from Middletown High School class of 1954. In June 1957 she married Richard Wagner of Deep River. They resided in Deep River before moving to Middletown to raise a family. She worked as a secretary at numerous businesses including Otis Elevator and Middlesex Community College. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed arts and crafts, using her creativity to make items for the house or to give to family and friends. She was a Cub Scout den mother for both her sons and enjoyed teaching how to make things, especially holiday decorations. Lorraine was also an accomplished seamstress making clothes for the entire family as well as professionally. She loved family traditions, especially at Christmas, making sure her sons knew how to make Scaciatta for the holidays.
She is pre-deceased by husband Richard O. Wagner, sisters Annette Oliva and Rose Mangiafico. Lorraine is survived by sons, Richard Wagner and his wife Ann of Middletown, CT and Mark Wagner of Tucker, GA; sister, Lillian Kuchalla of Naples, FL, sister-in-law, Rosemary Monte of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandsons Jonathan Wagner and Kevin Wagner of Middletown, CT, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Masonicare at Chester Village and The Homeaides, especially Lorraine’s primary caregivers, Ruth and Joan.
Funeral services will be private with burial at St. Sebastian’s Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
