Louis Zbavitel 64, a resident of Litchfield Woods Healthcare Center in Torrington, passed away on December 14, 2019 after a lifelong battle with schizophrenia.
Born on December 20, 1955 in Prostejov, Czech Republic, Louis emigrated with his family as a refugee to America in 1970. He settled with family in Wolcott, CT and attended schools in Wolcott. He met and worked under his future brother-in-law, Robert E. Tyler Jr., as a machinist at Conn Centerless Grinding in Southington. Louis’ sister, Hana Tyler, and Robert have been a constant support throughout his life. Louis was also a long time resident of Torrington and involved with Prime Time House which supported others with similar challenges of mental illness until settling into his full time care facility.
He is survived by his sister, Hana Tyler and brother-in-law, Robert E. Tyler Jr. of Woodbury, their children, Elishka Tyler and Evin Tyler.
Louis had a brilliant mind and loved the intellectual challenge of playing chess, Jolika (Czech card game), soccer, tennis, nature, fishing, reading about world affairs, collecting stamps, and visiting his sister and her family.
His heart of gold will be greatly missed and now he has finally returned back home to be with our Lord Jesus, whom he trusted and loved.
A celebration of his life is scheduled with his family and friends in late April at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plainville, CT.
Notification of exact time/date can be obtained by emailing his sister Hana at firstname.lastname@example.org in late March.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Prime Time House will be gratefully accepted.
