Lucy Bernadette (Garro) Perrone, 93, cherished Mother and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2022 in Meriden, CT. She was born on June 16, 1929 in Waterbury and was the loving wife of Biaggio V. Perrone, who passed away in February and was a long-time resident of Wolcott, where they raised their family and celebrated over 73 years together.
She and Biaggio had five children: a son, Michael C. Perrone, of Florida; four daughters, Susan Sweatt and her husband Stanley of Florida; Mary Lu Bowen and her husband Milton of Vermont; Jeanne Perrone of Wolcott; and Nancy Foersch and her husband Mark, of Meriden; as well as nine grandchildren: Stacy Perrone-Petta; Aaron and Andrew Sweatt; Cheli Pronovost; Jason, Robert and Amy Bowen; Jordan Foersch and Olivia Nadile; and ten great grandchildren: Aidan, Ashton and Addison Sweatt; Alexander Sweatt; Nico Petta; Cadence, Brinley, Hadlee and Harper Pronovost; and Audrina Frasco; a sister, Grace Garro; daughter-in-law Diane Perrone; and several nieces, and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents, Carmelo and Maria Assunta (Susie) Garro and her brother, Sebastian Garro and she was survived by his widow, Pauline Garro of Florida.
Lucy was multi-talented and was well known for her generous hospitality, industriousness and no-nonsense approach to work. She was an exceptional cook and baker. Her antipasto, eggplant parmesan and chicken cutlets were some of everyone's favorites! She will always be remembered for her beautiful and delicious wedding cakes (especially her Yum-Yum cake) and the lovely bridal bouquets and floral arrangements she created.
She enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. with her beloved husband and they made many fond memories when they traveled throughout Europe and when they lived in Italy for a year.
Her hobbies were crocheting, painting, playing pinochle, and whipping you at our family favorite game of Scrabble or checkers and she always played to win! She played the piano by ear and loved listening to a variety of operatic music, including Andre Rieu, Mario Lanza, and Il Volo. She loved watching the movie, "Singin' In The Rain" starring Gene Kelly. She also enjoyed binge-watching “Little House on the Prairie” and “Perfect Strangers which she referred to as “The School” and “Balkie.”
For 76 years as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, (most currently with the Waterville Congregation), Lucy was a dedicated Christian woman who conducted Bible studies with many people to help them embrace and follow the Bible's standards in their lives. She will be missed very much by everyone who knew and loved her!
An in-person Memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 P.M on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2670 North Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06704. A Zoom code will also be provided for those who cannot attend in person. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online at JW.ORG or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
