Mackenzie Marie Johnson




   

Mackenzie Marie Johnson of Prospect, CT ( affectionately known as “Kenzie”, “Ken” or ”Kenny” and born Mackenzie Marie Moreland) passed away unexpectedly Sunday April 14th, 2024 at the age of 20 surround by loved ones.


    Mackenzie was a graduate of Emmett O’Brien technical high school in Ansonia, CT where they were a varsity volleyball player and an active member and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. They had a passion for helping others and found their calling as a CNA and had ambitions to become a nurse.


       Mackenzie was known for their quirky personality, love of animals, unparalleled empathy and compassion and their obsession with anime, chocolate and sushi.


     Mackenzie is survived by their parents Deborah and Billy Johnson, Ben Moreland and Kristina Walker, their siblings Stephanie Rieffer, Patrick Rieffer, Tyla Swaim, Gabriel Johnson and Kadyn Birkenberger, their boyfriend Eric Marcinko and his family, their grandmother Judy Kierce, and Grandfather Donald Kierce, many nieces , nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and their beloved dog Puggle. 



      In lieu of flowers or other gifts , the family ask that you consider a donation to Choose Kindness, a Craniofacial camp for children with Craniofacial Differences to provide a scholarship to help other children like Mackenzie.
