Madeleine Skrzypczak

Madeleine Patricia Couture Peterson Skrzypczak, 91, a longtime resident of Windsor Locks passed away peacefully at home on 7 August 2026.

Madeleine was born on 20 March 1935 to Walter and Eva Couture in Saco Maine.  She spent her childhood between Old Orchard Beach and Biddeford Maine. 

Madeleine had many fond memories of growing up with her siblings, Andre Couture, Lucille Pepin, Rachel Pelletier, and Donald Couture, all four siblings have passed on and are waiting to receive her.      

Madeline was married to the late John Skrzypczak and raised three children in Windsor Locks.  Joanne Irrizzary (husband Carl), Michael Peterson (wife Ute, her gardening partner) both deceased, and Norman (wife Chae).  She also had five grandchildren, Gregory and his wife Amy, Jeffery Moule and his wife Erica, both grandsons were always around to tease greandma or maybe grandma was teasing them, they kept her young and in good spirits.  She also had two other grandsons Mathew and Justin Peterson and one grand daughter Jessie Peterson along with one great grand daughter and three great, great grand children.   

Madeline loved returning to Maine every summer with John and her children to vist family and friends.  She loved playing scatch, eating fried clams, watching Nascar and UConn basketball.  In her younger days she enjoyed going to the Polish picnic.  

After John's passing she had a loving relationship with Robert LeBlanc, they also enjoyed visiting Maine and traveling around New England together.  

As a teenager Madeline worked in her parents hotel in Old Orchaerd Beach as a chamber maid, a glamour job that lead to a life long calling.  Madeline work at D'Amore Rest Haven invarious position, house keeping, cook, nurse's aid and finally dirctor of house keeping, she really loved taking care of people.  Working at D'Amore's she built close bonds with the residents and would welcome them to her home on the weekends.  After leavig D'Moore she did light house keeping on her own.  The families that she worked with all treated her as family, she said it was like visiting friends, she trully had a job that she enjoyed.   

The last two years Madeline had assistance to be able to live at home, we would like to thank Lacey Foy, Anita Malecki, and Crystal McDermott.

A special thanks goes out to the folks at Hospice, Hartford Health Care at Home who were there the final days to make her comfortable.
