Martin Kalhok

Martin Kalhok was born Aug. 7, 1937, in Mor, Hungary. He passed away Saturday, Oct. 6. Marty came to the United States in 1952 by boat through Ellis Island in New York. He met his wife Stella in 1956 and was married on October 25th 1958. A meat cutter for Colchester Packing of Hartford’s regional market for 35 years, he worked with his cousin Joe Abele for 20 years, then worked as the “maintenance guy” at Stonecroft Apartments in Hebron til he retired at 78 years old. Marty was a friend to everyone who met him. He never said ‘no’ to anyone or anything – even when we thought it might be too much for him, he’d do it anyway. He was fondly know to hundreds of people as “Uncle Marty,” especially kids, who were just drawn to him and his kindness. He loved and was very proud to say he was a Hebron Lions member, beginning in 1991. He was a life member of the club. Marty leaves behind his wife Stella of almost 65 years of marriage; his stepson Paul Arsenault and his wife Karen of Hebron; his daughter Mary Schadtle and her husband Bob of Hebron; and his son Marty and his wife Darlene, also of Hebron. He made his home with Stella amongst his family members who were able to care for him for as long as possible. Marty had six grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his two half-sisters, and his grandson, Kevin Schadtle. Marty will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives he touched. May he now rest in Peace. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John Fisher Church in Marlborough on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hebron Lions Club or Hebron Ambulance Department in Marty’s name
