Meredith Ford 1946-2022

On September 14, 2022, Meredith Ford, 75, of Windsor CT, took her final breath, surrounded by loved ones. The sun rose and the world welcomed Meredith on October 1, 1946, a day the world became a little brighter in Portland, ME. Meredith lived a full life as a dedicated wife and mother, helping countless people as a social worker. Meredith was predeceased by her father and mother, Clifton and Ruth, along with her brother, Kip, and sister Andrea. She is survived by her husband, Anthony, her daughters, Claudette, Vanessa (husband Greg), Hillary (husband Kevin), her brothers, Peter and Chandler, sister-in-laws, Jacque, Janice, and Jean, seven grandchildren (Vincent, Michael, Mikayla, Graham, Xavier, Gabrielle, and Beverly), one great granddaughter, Leilani and many nieces and nephews.

After raising her children, Meredith took the time to fulfill her dream earning a Bachelor of Arts in social work at Southern CT State University and her Master’s degree in social work at Fordham University. Meredith spent much of her adult life a dedicated civil servant as the director of a domestic violence shelter in Waterbury, CT. Meredith continued her passion for helping others as a social worker at a kidney dialysis center in Oceanside CA. Meredith’s passion for the beach, Tai Chi, reading, and crocheting continued into her retirement years. She was known for her beautiful crocheted blankets and dozens of her beautiful creations can still be found in family and friends’ homes. Meredith will be deeply missed by those who knew her well and whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Meredith’s honor to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org). At the family’s request, services will be private.
