Milton William Coates

Milton William Coates

January 25, 1929-May 25, 2024

Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Saturday May 25, 2024.

He is now with the love of his life, Ann Skalkos Coates. They were happily married for 40 years before she passed away in 1993. Together they raised two children and enjoyed a wonderful life near Fairfield Beach. Milton loved coaching his son David’s baseball teams for many years and was an avid New York Yankees fan who never missed a UConn Women’s basketball game. In later years, he loved to play pinochle and dominoes with Carol, Marty and his good friends at Heritage Village.

Milton was a proud US Marine who served our country during the Korean War. He received his master’s degree from Bridgeport University and was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft as a QA Engineer for 40 years.

But the most important thing of all was his family. He remained extremely close with his sister-in-law, Sandra Will, as well as his brother-in-law, Nick Skalkos. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his son, David Coates (Elaine) of Newtown, CT, and his daughter, Aimee Coates of Dundee, NY; seven beloved grandchildren, Nicole Coates (Michael), Charles Coates, Joseph Coates (Lisa), Mathew Coates (Kristen), Katherine Cayton (Brian Cayton), Michael Coates (Nancy Coates) and Ann E Krofssik; as well as 3 cherished great-grandchildren, Ava, Trevor and Caleb.

Milton was never without a big smile and happy “no problem”attitude. Through Milton’s hard work, conscientious service and loving commitment to his family, countless generational blessings have been bestowed upon all those whose lives he touched.

It is his wish to have a private service with his children and grandchildren at a later date.
