Norma Marriner 1929-2018

Norma Marriner, 88, of Tolland passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, September 15, 2018, after a brief battle with Leukemia. She was the wife of Charles for 67 years.

She was born in Astoria NY, November 12, 1929, the daughter of the late Maximo and Martha (Kuesel) Heizmann. She married Charles in 1951 and was a wonderful wife and mother to her five children. She lived in Valley Stream NY, Bay Shore NY, Rochester MN and Redding CT before settling in Tolland fifteen years ago.

Norma took great pleasure in caring for her family and excelled at a wide variety of hobbies. She was a prolific knitter and belonged to a prayer shawl knitting group that met in Tolland. She thoroughly enjoyed many activities at the Tolland Senior Center, especially singing with the choral group The Notables. She participated in every trip they offered and treasured the many friendships she formed while attending the Senior Center.

Norma will be remembered as a kind woman who had a good word to say about everyone. Many will think of her fondly as the lady whose clothes, jewelry and accessories were always perfectly coordinated. Her pursuit of these special items was one of her joys. She was THE BEST MOTHER EVER and will be sorely missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan and Laura of Tolland, Ellen and her husband Ken of Albany OR; her sons Fred of San Jose CA, Stephen and his wife Phyllis of Portland OR; and her grandchildren Sarah, Christopher, Matthew and Michael.

At Norma’s request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tolland Senior Center.
