Patricia “Patty” Foote, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Branford on Monday, February 9.

Born on April 15, 1959, in New Haven, Connecticut, Patty was raised in North Branford by her parents, Richard and Barbara Foote. She led a life of hard work and dedication, living with a free spirit that defined her. She was an athlete, proudly playing on the North Branford High School basketball team, and later became a member of the Stony Creek Fife and Drum Corps, where she played the fife in many parades, often with her daughters in tow.

Patty worked for many years at Stop & Shop and was a proud member of Local 371, where she built lifelong friendships that became like family.

Above all else, she was a loving and devoted mother to Kara Foote, Melissa Baird (Steve Paecht), and Stefan Baldo, all of Branford. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Nathaniel, Benjamin, and Jacob, who brought immeasurable joy into her life.

She is also survived by her siblings David Foote (Jane), Ellen Reed (Michael), Richard Foote (Cathy), and Carolyn, along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was reunited with her parents, Richard and Barbara Foote.

Patty had a creative soul, she loved bike rides, joy rides in her Jeep, tending to her garden, and found joy in making things with her hands — wind catchers, paintings, and other small pieces of beauty. Music was woven into the fabric of her life. A devoted fan of The Grateful Dead, she loved attending live shows and often answered questions with a lyric or playful riddle.

She will be remembered for her humor, her music, her creativity, and the deep love she had for her children, grandchildren and family. Her spirit lives on in every sunset and every song played loud.

A memorial service to celebrate Patty’s life will be held in April. Details will be shared with family and friends in the coming weeks.
