Patricia Louise Callahan (née Ferrone) was born on June 6, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away peacefully a day after her 84th birthday, June 7, 2026. It’s no surprise that she was surrounded by her loving family; she lived a life dedicated to raising her six children and nurturing close friendships. She was loved by so many, and is missed dearly already.

Pat would oftentimes tell wonderful stories of her childhood growing up in Cleveland Heights. Going to Browns games with her Dad was one of her favorite pastimes.

She was an avid reader and loved nothing more than hanging out with her kids and grandchildren. She also loved watching UCONN basketball, and cranking up some Elvis or Frankie Valli in the car. And she would never change the station if “Sweet Child O’ Mine” came on. Pat was the one who always sent the birthday card, always showed up for the game, and always had a pot of coffee on.

From multiple family road trips all the way to Florida to summer weeks shared closer to home at White Sands Beach, Pat loved the sun, loved the beach, and could sit and listen to the ocean for hours on end. Wherever she is now, she’s no doubt already found a pool and a chaise and is laying out in the bright sun.

After marrying Matthew Callahan, the couple settled down in Enfield, CT and built a family of eight. The house and yard on Abbe Road was always full of kids and laughter, wiffle ball and pool parties, memorable Christmas Eves (with occasional karaoke), and pure chaos in the best possible way.

Pat also found happiness toward the end of her life with Don, a dear friend who she seemed to have had a heck of a lot of fun with.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew, and is survived by her children. She’s the beloved mother of Marie (Tod) Scheuritzel Callahan, Kelly (Patrick) Mairson, Matt (Iris) Callahan, Sean (Andrea) Callahan, Katie (Joe) Callahan, and Devin (Vanessa) Callahan. A loving grandmother to Erin, Tyler, Kayli, Keili, Agnes, Madeline, and Marco. Beloved daugter of the late Pasquale and Louise Ferrone and adoring sister of the late Amelia (“Mitzy”) Ferrone.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory can be made to the caring staff of the Noble House Residence at Avery Heights located at 705 New Britain Ave, Hartford, CT 06106.
