Paul Edward Griffin passed away at St Francis Hospital on Monday July 22, after a long illness. Paul was born on May 15, 1951 to Dorothy (Hansen) Griffin and Francis Leo Griffin. He was the third of four children. He grew up in East Windsor and was a graduate of East Windsor High School.
In his youth, Paul was a talented baseball player and a life-long Red Sox fan. He excelled as a jazz drummer. Paul always loved music. He attended the Hartford Jazz Cruise many times and loved to discuss musical composition with his cousins. He had a talent for spotting musicians and groups long before they became well-known.
Paul had a keen interest in history, especially for World War II. Paul was the keeper of their father’s stories of the many battles his dad had been in during WWII. Paul had an in-depth knowledge of military weaponry, planes and tanks.
Paul was engaged to Carmen Pikul until her death in June, 2022.
He was employed at Thompson Associates in Windsor and later at RSCC Cable, East Granby.
Paul was preceded in death by his sister Christine as well as his parents. He leaves his brothers Robert (Shirley) and Barry (Margaret). Affectionately known as “Oscar the Grouch” and “Uncle Buck”, Paul was the proud uncle to Sheila, Grace and Neil and to four great-nephews, Noah, Toby, Will and Isaac. He leaves many cousins and friends to mourn his loss.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
I'm so sorry to hear about Paul. He was in my classes from grammar school to high school. Although he was very shy, all the girls had a crush on him. May the good memories of Payl fill the sadness and heartbreak of his passing. Julie Preston Cortese
