Paula Anne Schweizer

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paula Anne Schweizer, of East Haven, Connecticut,  formerly of Guilford, Connecticut,  on November 12, 2025, at the age of 65. Paula was born on October 27, 1960, to Georgia and Adolph (Butch)  Schweizer, Jr.   She leaves behind the light of her life, her son,  Christopher Bennett Schweizer, of East Haven, Connecticut who stood  by her side throughout her courageous battle with cancer.

Paula grew up in Guilford, Connecticut and graduated from Guilford High School in 1978.

She went on to pursue a nursing career and cared for many patients at skilled nursing facilities over the last 40 years.  Paula was honored by the Connecticut Nurses Honor Guard at a special ceremony in October for her many years of dedicated nursing.

Paula loved spending her summers at the beach, especially Misquamicut. She would have her car filled with kids and her cooler packed with food and would head to Rhode Island to ride the waves all day long.  We all know Paula had a better tan than anyone!

Some of Paula's favorite things to do were taking family vacations,  holidays with family, shopping, Happy Hour with coworkers, Bingo with her Vicki and taking Jeff to PAPW wrestling. The highlight of her week, for over 30 years, was Yahtzee night with her best friend Ann. The most important thing to Paula was her  family and friends.

Paula leaves behind her son, Christopher and his father, Bryan Haag, her Aunt Pauline Hale, her "Aunt" Edie Riggio,  her sister's, Lou-Ellen Rusconi (Wayne), Brenda Stegina (Joe), Beth Schweizer (Gregg) and her best buddy, her brother Jeff Schweizer who she faithfully took care of.  She is also survived by her nephew, Justin Rusconi (Rachel) and her nieces, Cara Rusconi (Pete), Nichole Mathers (Jeremy), Ashley Schweizer and Elizabeth Stegina.  Paula also leaves her great niece and nephew, Travis and Camryn Mathers.  Paula shared her love for hunting worms and critters with the kids and loved being their next door neighbor.  Some days their laughter is what kept Paula going.

Paula was predeceased by her parents, Butch and Georgia and her beloved niece Taylor (Tiny) Schweizer.

A very special thanks to Vicki, Ann,Tracy, Holly, and her friends at The Ark.

A memorial luncheon will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 2PM, at the Guilford VFW, 104 Mill Road, Guilford, CT.  Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Camp Rising Sun Charitable Foundation, P. O. Box 472, Branford, CT 06405 (www.camprisingsun.com).  This is a place where kids with cancer (and their siblings) have fun.
