March 1, 1930 – May 12, 2026
Peter Palumbo, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and Navy veteran,
passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the quiet devotion
he gave so freely to those he treasured most.
Born on March 1, 1930, in Ansonia, Connecticut, Peter was the son of Antonio Palumbo
and Rosalia (Ginex) Palumbo. He grew up shaped by the values of hard work and family
— values he would carry with him, and pass on, for the rest of his life.
Peter answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy during
the Korean War. He carried that sense of duty and discipline with him long after he
returned home.
After his honorable discharge, Peter joined Sikorsky Aircraft, where he built a
distinguished career in final assembly before transitioning to avionics. He was a
craftsman by nature — precise, patient, and proud of the work he put into the world. He
retired in 1998 after decades of dedicated service.
The center of Peter’s world was Marylou, the love of his life, who preceded him in death.
In his retirement years, he devoted himself to her care with the same quiet, steadfast
love that had always defined him. He never asked for recognition. He simply showed up,
every day, as he always had.
Peter lived to see his grandchildren — Caroline, Olivia, Julianna, and Samuel — grow
into the people they were meant to be. He was there for their graduations, celebrated
their engagements, marriages, and watched with deep pride as each found their lifelong
love. Every milestone was a gift he received with a full heart.
He was also blessed with the joy of great-grandchildren — Kingsley, Daphne, Arlo, and
Maxime. Their Great G loved them very much and they loved him.
He leaves everyone who met him, his humor, card tricks, and smile that never aged.
Handmade toys crafted with his master woodworking hands and the words he spoke
that his family will hear long after he is gone. Above all, he leaves his love — the most
generous gift he had, and the one he gave most willingly.
Peter is survived by his two sons, Steven (Sue) and Michael (Rachel); his grandchildren,
Caroline (Tom), Olivia (Jess), Julianna (Gunnar), and Samuel (Ewelina); his great-
grandchildren, Kingsley, Daphne, Arlo, and Maxime; and his beloved nieces and
nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his wife and the love of his life,
Marylou Palumbo.
His family was his greatest treasure. He knew it, and so did they. Blessed.
