Philip Louis Dunn Sr. of Palm Bay Florida passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, February 27, 2021, just following his 80th Birthday. He died peacefully at his son’s home after months of failing health.
Phil was born on February 15, 1941 to the late James and Hazel (Lemay) Dunn of Watertown CT. He met the love of his life, L. Suzanne (Lanteri) Dunn, and was married on June 23, 1967. They stayed in Watertown and raised their family and then moved to Palm Bay Florida after their retirement.
Phil Loved being around his grandchildren. He was known for his funny personality, kind heart, generosity, and love for Family and Friends. He had a passion for antiques, old clocks and pocket watches; as well as walks at the park, swimming, Mexican Train game night, and fishing at the boat launch at his park.
Phil began his career at Watertown MFG where he received a letter of heroism at the age of 18, from Carl Siemon, for saving two young boys who fell through the ice at Hemingway Park, on December 30, 1959. Phil was also employed at Murphy Advertising and Eastern Color Printing in Avon, from which he retired as a Lead Pressman.
Phil is survived by his son Philip Dunn Jr. and Fiancé Athena Fields of Torrington CT, three grandchildren who are Dominic Dunn of Queens NY, Matthew Dunn of Louisville TN, and Joseph Dunn of Waterbury CT. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley D’Amico, Marion Guerin, Hazel Gallery, and Nancy Collier and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded by his beloved wife Susan Dunn, his sister Joan Meskunas, brother James Dunn, and his son Timothy Dunn.
A private memorial service for Family will be held at Friendship Baptist Church in Litchfield CT. The time and date are to be determined.
