Priscilla Marie (Keegan) Hopp died peacefully Friday, October 18, at Portland Care and
Rehabilitation Center. She was 83. Priscilla was born and raised in New York City, daughter of Edward and Priscilla (Pfarr) Keegan, and remained in her heart a proud New Yorker. Priscilla married Hans Hopp in 1965, and in 1972 they relocated upstate to Columbia County to operate the well-regarded Stagecoach Inn restaurant in Blue Stores. After closing the restaurant in 1995, Priscilla moved to Connecticut to be closer to her grandchildren. In Connecticut she worked for the law firm of Edwards & Angel, and later for the firm of Gordon & Rees.
Priscilla had a warm and vivacious personality and many friends, both old and new. A masterful cook and baker, she moved about the kitchen in the same exuberant whirlwind that carried her wherever she went. Priscilla loved her family and her friends and was generous with her time, her attention, and her cheesecakes. Her quick and infectious laugh was as often turned on herself as anything else. While the relentless progress of dementia slowly took away her memories, the smile and laughter remained to the end.
Priscilla was predeceased by her parents and her husband Hans. She leaves behind two
daughters, Kristine Hopp and her husband Lucian Guilmette of Portland, Jennifer Hopp and her partner Justin Corelli of Loudonville, New York; sisters Kathy Donahue of Centereach, New York and Denise Steeneck of New York City, grandchildren Emily, Isabelle, and Katherine Guilmette and Jack Berben, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her friend and guardian angel Suzan Fournier.
Priscilla’s family would like to thank the staff of Portland Care and Rehab for taking such
wonderful care of Priscilla, and filling her final months with warmth, kindness, comfort, and love.
The "Keegan Sisters" are a resonating example of the power of women as they traverse through the complexities of life. Brilliance, resilience, beauty and wit from the moment they entered this world and now, for Priscilla, in how she leaves us. There will be dozens of stories, smiles through tears, and an angel who will guide her loved ones that remain. Condolences to you all. When everything is said and done, she leaves you with inspired wisdom to help you through all that comes your way. - Melissa, Ken & Stacey
