Ramona Morin 1937-2019

Ramona Morin passed away on December 22, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in Solon, Maine on January 25, 1937 to Arlene and Frank Washburn. Mona came to Connecticut in 1959 with her husband Robert. They settled in the Bristol/Terryville area where they raised their five children.


She is survived by Lori Ann Messier of New Britain; Steve Morin and his wife Susan of Burlington; Jody Morin and his wife Lanora of Gilbert, AZ and Jamie Morin and his wife Cindy of Bristol. She cherished her grandchildren: Michael, Patrick and Kyle Morin, David Messier, Joseph, Kira and Olivia Morin, Tyler and Sarah Morin and Angelina Morin. She was blessed with several great grandchildren: Jacob, Cameron, Nathan , Avery, Arista and Julian. She also leaves a foster son Josh Vaillancourt. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and son R. Jeffrey.


Mona was a very independent and remarkable woman, providing foster care to multiple adults with special needs. She served as a foster parent, caring for others via the CRI agency, just until her passing. She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare delicious meals for her family. Her yeast rolls and meat pies were always in demand.


She enjoyed spending time listening to music, especially country music. She appreciated a good sports competition particularly, if the Yankees were involved. She also loved basketball and bowling, as she was quite the player in her high school days. Other favorite pastimes include knitting, making puzzles, collecting angels and visiting relatives in Maine. Mona was honored to be the valedictorian of her high school class. She can also boast about holding the coveted title of “Miss Solon, Maine”. She was a great storyteller and loved to share stories about the family while viewing many of her photo collections. She will be greatly missed by the entire family.


A memorial mass will be celebrated on January 18, 2020 at 11 AM at St. Ann Church, 215 West Street, Bristol, CT.
