Richard James “Bear” McCabe, 65 of Waterford, formerly of Norwich and Wethersfield, passed away on February 23, 2022 at Lawence Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born in Hartford, son of the late James Martin McCabe and Gertrude (Porter) McCabe on October 8, 1956.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Stagehand by Mohegan Sun Casino and Union Local 84. Richard was very proud of his Irish Heritage and was a very loyal New York Giants football fan.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Mary McCabe of Maynard, Massachusetts, Kevin McCabe and his partner Maureen Meehan of Mystic, his niece Emily Woods and her husband Dermot and his nephews Matthew McCabe and his wife Colleen and Kevin McCabe II. He is also survived by his great nephews and nieces, Liam, Sarah, James, Abigail and Margaret as well as numerous cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday March 5, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road in Bloomfield. Donations may be made to the donor’s choice of charity in Richard’s memory.
