Robert Burns grew up in Plainville and lived for many years in Seattle, Washington.
He worked as an operator for the Bell System, Southern New England Telephone and NS West for 23 years. He came back to his hometown of Plainville in retirement. He was an avid pond hockey player in his youth. He especially enjoyed karaoke, Elton John music and watching baseball. Rob died of lung cancer at Hartford Hospital on January 20.
He is predeceased by his parents and older brother Ricky. He is survived by his sister Bonnie and nieces and nephew Audrey, Amy and Tim.
The family is having a private memorial. Donations can be made to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
