Robert L. Bronson 1953-2022

Robert Leavenworth Bronson

'Proud husband, father, and Poppa'

Robert Leavenworth Bronson, 69, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022 with his devoted wife of 34 years, Karen (Norton) Bronson at his side at St. Mary’s VITAS Hospice Unit. Robert was born in Waterbury, CT on December 17, 1953. He was the son of the late Robert and Charlotte (Frazier) Bronson. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1972. He was a lifelong Watertown resident. Robert made his living as a mixer driver; first for McCleary’s, then for the majority of his career, for O&G Industries until he retired in 2018. When he wasn’t watching the news, you could find him working out in the yard or tinkering in the garage. In retirement, he spent his mornings with his friends at Chubba’s. On sunny days, he would go for a joyride in his pristine 2016 Ford Mustang. He also loved relaxing with his kitty, Marbles. Most of all, he enjoyed goofing around with his grandchildren, Landon and Chloe, who were the absolute light of his life. He always kept everyone around him laughing. He lived by the motto, “If you don’t know the answer, make one up,” and made sure he delivered his made-up answers with a straight face so no one questioned him.

Above all else, he was a loving and proud husband, father, and “Poppa” who will be missed every day by his wife Karen, son Spencer Bronson and his wife Marcella of Watertown, his daughter Rachael Bronson and her significant other Bradley Balletto of Middlebury, and his grandchildren Landon and Chloe Bronson. He is also survived by his sister Lynn Bronson-Parchman and her husband Richard Parchman of Santa Rosa, CA, and his niece Carly and nephew Gabe. He will also be greatly missed by his large, extended family on his wife’s side.

Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Fund for Yale New Haven Hospital at https://secure.givetoynhh.org. The family would like to thank the amazing nurses, doctors, and staff at St. Mary’s VITAS Unit and Yale New Haven Cardiac Units for their excellent care and unwavering compassion. The family will hold a short service followed by a Celebration of Life at Watertown United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 6-8pm. 305 Main St., Watertown, CT 06795.
