Robert (Bob) Russell Weaver, age 72, of East Haddam, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday (June 16, 2022) surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 4, 1950, in Middletown and growing up in Ivoryton, he graduated from Valley Regional High School in 1968. After graduation, he served in the US Army as a Specialist in the 220th Reconnaissance Airplane Company (RAC), the “Catkillers,” seeing active duty in Vietnam in 1969-70. During Bob’s service, he was exposed to Agent Orange, leading to health issues later in life and ultimately, his passing.
As an avid outdoorsman and nature lover, Bob knew he wanted a career outdoors, and he became a highly respected land surveyor owning his own business.
He met the love of his life, Barbara, and they married January 8th, 1988. They built their forever home in the woods of East Haddam with their children. Following his lifelong dream of having a farm of his own, Bob established their land as Twin Brook Farm in 2020, thus ensuring that his family would always be surrounded by nature. Bob and Barb created a truly special space, embracing farm life to the fullest, raising and caring for their cows, ducks, sheep, goats, chickens, and two labs.
Bob’s dedication to his wife was truly inspiring, and he encouraged his children to treasure all the moments, big and small, that make for an extraordinary marriage.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing the simple joys of day-to-day life, and he took pride in their successes. He enjoyed making delicious meals for his family (seafood extravaganzas!), sipping on a good Kentucky bourbon, tractor rides with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing in Maine, and tending to his land.
He was a quiet, soft-spoken, and contemplative guy with a great sense of humor who embraced spontaneity.
He frequently reminded his loved ones to slow down, to listen, to breathe and relax, and he will always be remembered as extremely devoted to his family.
Bob is survived by many loving friends and family members including his devoted wife of 34 years, Barbara Weaver; their eldest son, Ryan Weaver, and wife, Paige, along with their three children Nolan, Nicholas, and Maisie; son, Jason Weaver, and wife, Chrissy, along with their four children, Eva, Walter, Liam, and Brynley; daughter, Ashley Zupan, and husband, Brian, along with their daughter Teigan; and his youngest son, Joseph Weaver and wife, Kelsey, along with their soon-to-be daughter and sister, Nancy and her husband, Peter Ray.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Alma (Guidi) and Walter ‘Pete’ Weaver, and his younger brother, Michael.
All are welcome to a Celebration of Life Sunday, July 17th at 3pm at his home, 147 Parker Rd. East Haddam, CT with a reception to follow.
