Robert Santaniello

Proud war veteran, husband, father, and grandfather, Robert Santaniello, who served his family, friends, community, and country with fortitude and hard work, passed away on May 12, 2026.  Born in Norwalk, CT on August 27,1942, he was the oldest son of Andrew and Angelina (Esernia) Santaniello. Robert, known to all as Bob, was predeceased by his wife, mother, father, and brother. He lived his life in the Nutmeg State. A huge UCONN sports fan, especially basketball, Bob worked at the New Britain Herald and retired from Snap-on Tools after more than 30 years. His beloved wife of more than 30 years, Connie Santaniello, predeceased him in 2019.


Bob served in the Marine Corps from 1963-1969. He received the Good Conduct Medal of Honor, Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge during his years of service. 


He is survived by his children; Andrea (Rich) Faber, Catherine (Adam) Dziedzic, Rebecca (Tim) Guilini, Bryson Burse (Marlo Lagosz) and his grandchildren; Tyler, Sam, Maggie, Max, Jackson, Brody, Watson, Dylan, Katie, and Adalynn.


A resident of Deep River, Bob was a member of the Deep River Congregational Church. He enjoyed his weekly card games with fellow parishioners and helping the church serve the community.


As a member of the Power Squadron since 2002 and Commander from 2005-2007 Bob enjoyed adventures on his boat with his wife, family and friends. Notable adventures included trips to Newport and earlier times on Lake Winnipesaukee with his family.


A Celebration of Life will be held on June 27 at 10am at Deep River Congregational Church, 1 Church St, Deep River, CT 06417.
