Robert Stafford Evans Jr., 66, of Glastonbury, CT, passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 16, 2024 after a 2 year battle with cancer. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on June 28th, 1958 at Saint Joseph Hospital, he was the son of Patricia Evans (Newark, Delaware) and the late Robert Stafford Evans Sr. He had a younger sister named Patrice Harrigan (1961-2007).
As a student at McCaskey High School, Lancaster, PA, Robert discovered his passion for music. Starting as a trombone player, he soon mastered the guitar. With that talent, he was a member of several bands including Cosmic Debris and Nightfire. An avid guitarist all of his life, Robert enjoyed playing his guitar, writing, and recording his own songs. He drew inspiration from musicians and artists across many genres, in addition to attending jazz festivals throughout the East Coast.
Robert attended Manchester Community College and received a degree in culinary arts. He was a chef at Hartford Hospital and Max Amore, finally finding his true calling at Whole Foods as a master baker. During his 16 year career at Whole Foods, he befriended many. His culinary skills extended to his home, where he prepared and experimented with many delicious, home cooked meals for his family.
Robert will be remembered as a kind, generous, deeply talented and passionate person. He is greatly cherished by his wife, Dianne, with whom he shared 32 years of a loving marriage. He was a devoted father and family man, infusing a fun, humorous, and nurturing presence in the lives of his five children.
He was a wonderful source of advice, comfort, and wisdom to anyone in need.
Left to honor his memory is his wife, Dianne Evans of Glastonbury CT; his children, Deja Evans of Lancaster, PA; Justin Evans of Glastonbury, CT; Brandon Evans of Glastonbury, CT; Tara Evans of Glastonbury, CT; Corinne Evans of New Rochelle, NY; his mother, Patricia Evans of Newark, DE; granddaughter, Olivia Logan of Lancaster, PA; and nephew, Keeron Harrigan of Wilmington, DE. Robert will also be missed by many cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on September 14, 2024 at 11AM at South Church, 277 Main Street in Hartford, Connecticut., followed by a burial at the Cedar Hill Cemetery 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford, Ct. 06114.
