Roger Wayne Dickinson passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021. He will be missed greatly by many.
He was born December 18, 1934, at Hartford Hospital, the only child of Clayton “Dick” and Hortense “Tay” (Mackey) Dickinson. Roger attended public schools in Wethersfield, then Boston University. After graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. For the next 30 years he lived in New York City where he had a successful career as a commercial artist for several major corporations, then as a consultant. From 1989 until his death he lived in Wethersfield and worked at the True Value Hardware store there until his retirement in 2008. Roger was an avid collector of books and antiques. He enjoyed breakfast and lunch in Old Wethersfield and at Bob's Coffee Shop in Rocky Hill with many friends from the area. When he was younger, he traveled throughout the United States, in the Caribbean, and in Scandinavia for both business and pleasure. Later, he traveled in New England frequently visiting family and friends in Maine and Vermont, especially for holidays and special occasions. For many years he was a faithful communicant at Trinity Episcopal Church. He had a life-long love of cats and leaves his beloved Spiffy with a caring and dear friend. He was predeceased by his parents. Burial will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Auburn, ME.
Sincere thanks go to the wonderful staff at Mapleview Manor, Rocky Hill, for their compassionate care.
