Ronnarit ‘Ron’ Thongsri

Ronnarit ‘Ron’ Thongsri passed away on April 28, 2024, at the age of 49, surrounded by his wife Kirana Singhanon, his daughter, Chonnisa Prai Thongsri, his mother Phimpha Thongsri and his sister Kanittha Tongsri. Ron was a loving father, a beloved husband, a great son, and a dear brother. Ron was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in August of 2023. He bravely fought the disease, always keeping a sense of humor and a positive outlook on life during his battle before he passed away peacefully at St Francis Hospital.

Born in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. He grew up in Nonthaburi among family including brothers and sister. He went to high school at Horwang, and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Bangkok University.

Ron moved to the United States to pursue his American Dream in 2004, where he first started working as a Sous Chef in a restaurant in Northampton, MA. He moved to New York City in 2005, where he met his wife and made a lot of new friends.  There, he continued to master his cooking skills and soon became one of the head chefs at a famous Thai restaurant in NYC.  In 2012, he moved to Glastonbury, CT, to open a Thai restaurant, and with hard work and a welcoming community, he took the leap to open another Thai restaurant in 2017.  By the time of his passing, Ron had achieved part of his dream to become the proud owner of two Thai restaurants - Siam Glastonbury in Glastonbury, CT, and Prai Kitchen in West Hartford, CT.

Ron was a prankster yet a very kind person to everyone who knew him. He would not hesitate to lend a hand to help out. He was a mentor to his younger brother, Kachatorn Tongsri. He loved his family dearly and will of course be missed.  He is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, sister, brother, many aunts, uncles and nephews and nieces, and preceded in death by his father Aram Tongsri and brother Atthaphon Tongsri.
