Rosina (Rose) Daddabbo Garuti, 93, of Kensington, CT passed away peacefully at Autumn Lake Healthcare on March 12, 2026.  She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all that knew her.

Born on September 16, 1932, in New Britain, CT, Rose was the daughter of Lucia (Spinelli) Daddabbo and Vito Daddabbo.  Growing up in New Britain, she was one of seven children who quickly learned the value and importance of family.  After graduating from New Britain High School in 1950, Rose went on to start her career at Western Union and continued in the banking industry until her retirement in 1990.

She was a hardworking woman with a strong and independent spirit. She was a loyal wife, loving mother, caring friend, and a proud grandmother & great-grandmother who loved spending time with family and friends.  Always quick with a joke, a song, and a bit of wisdom, she was always willing to lend a helping hand or an ear to listen.  She loved to bake and was known for her Italian cookies and homemade cakes and pies.  Her sense of adventure led her to travel throughout the United States and Europe, where she loved both the relaxed pace of cruising and the more adventurous scenic road trips.  She was known to always have a camera in her hand capturing all her family’s special moments.  Rose was an avid card player, loved the casino and playing bingo.  She was a member of many organizations including Sons of Italy, Berlin Senior Center and the local AARP where she held many positions.  She was also an active member of St. Paul’s Church in Berlin.

Rose was a devoted wife to her late husband Richard Garuti, Sr.   They met while she was in high school and quickly fell in love.  Married for over 57 years, they shared many passions including stock-car racing, attending hundreds of concerts and cooking for their family and friends. Always on the go, they lived their life in motion, finding their greatest joy in taking the road less traveled and exploring new destinations all while their favorite classics played on the radio.   It is fitting that one of Rose’s favorite songs to sing, perfectly mirrored their journey together, “On the road again, I just can’t wait to get on the road again”.

Rose is survived by her two children, daughter Susan Sayers and her husband John J. Sayers of Plainville, CT and son Richard Garuti, Jr. and his wife Marjorie Garuti of Plantsville, CT.  She leaves behind five grandchildren, Katie Gagliardi and her significant other, Jason Pelletier of Bristol, CT;  Sarah Griffin and her husband Richard Griffin III, of Japan where he is currently serving in the military; Karen Garuti of Cheshire, CT;  John Sayers and his fiancée Mariorla Rondon Perez of Kissimmee, FL and Richard Garuti III and his wife Kristy Garuti of Southington, CT.  She also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren, Lilly Griffin, 16, Remi Parafati, 15, Richard Griffin IV, 14, Joseph Pennoyer, 12, Sophia Griffin, 11, Kiara Pennoyer, 10, Samuel Griffin, 6, September Rose Garuti, 6, Richard Garuti IV, 4 and Hudson Griffin, 3.

In addition to her immediate family, Rose is survived by her sister Stella Lorah of Ledyard, CT.  She is predeceased by her parents, Lucia and Vito Daddabbo and her five siblings, Mary Snetro of Kensington, CT; Lillian Theriault of Alpharetta, GA, John Daddabbo of Kensington, CT; Tony Daddabbo of Newington, CT and Ella Gonsalves of Falmouth, MA.

A private service will be held for immediate family at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate, an organization that was near and dear to Rose’s heart.
